2020-09-14

Engaged for Children and its partner in Burundi, Ensemble Pour Promouvoir le Développement Socio-Economique Durable (EPDSED), have provided support for the schooling of children in Bujumbura and Rutana province for the 2020-2021 school year. This support was possible thanks to the donation of several books and school resources from the Nigerian Embassy in Burundi and the King's School based in Bujumbura.

In terms of assistance to the poorest, a ceremony to hand over school materials was organized at Gitaba Public Primary School in the province of Rutana on September 6, 2020. A total of 30 vulnerable children, including 50% girls and 4 children with disabilities (deaf), received a complete school kit including notebooks, pens, textbooks, etc. In addition, more than 75 students of this school benefited from various school supplies including pens, pencils and erasers.

Also in relation to the support received from partners, EPDSED handed out school kits to 20 selected students in the commune of Bujumbura on September 12, 2020.

Within the framework of the Integrated Multimedia Libraries (IML) program and thanks to the generous material support from the King's School and the Nigerian Embassy in Burundi, a library room was set up at Gitaba Primary School, with the delivery of several books and documents in French and English. The partners plan to continue this support in the future with a view to installing a multimedia room in the school for the development of digital education.
